Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Traveling Superintendent to join our dynamic team. This position will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of underground utility construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of managing complex underground utility projects and be willing to travel to various project sites as needed.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Traveling Superintendent to join our dynamic team. This position will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of underground utility construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of managing complex underground utility projects and be willing to travel to various project sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight: Supervise all phases of underground utility construction, including water supply, treatment and distribution, wastewater collection, storm water collection, and reuse systems.
- Site Management: Ensure effective management of construction activities on-site, including supervising field crews, coordinating subcontractors, and overseeing equipment operations.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce all safety regulations and protocols on-site, maintaining a strong safety culture and ensuring a zero-accident environment.
- Quality Control: Monitor work to ensure it meets all company, client, and industry standards, and perform quality inspections throughout the project lifecycle.
- Scheduling & Budgeting: Maintain detailed project schedules and budgets, track progress, and report regularly to management on the status of timelines, costs, and any potential issues.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of all phases of the project, including planning, construction, and closeout.
- Problem-Solving: Resolve any issues or obstacles that may arise during the construction process, ensuring projects remain on track.
- Travel: Travel to various project sites across the region, as required, to supervise multiple ongoing projects.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate daily reports, safety logs, and other necessary documentation for project progress and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in underground utility construction with a proven track record as a superintendent or in a similar leadership role.
- Expertise: Strong knowledge of large diameter pipe, water supply, wastewater collection, storm water management, reuse systems, and horizontal directional drilling (HDD) techniques.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse group of construction personnel.
- Safety Focused: A strong commitment to safety practices and OSHA regulations.
- Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel frequently and spend extended periods at project sites across different locations.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a hands-on, proactive approach to resolving construction-related issues.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable standing, walking, and working in an outdoor construction environment for extended periods.
