Our client is seeking a Linux SysOps Technical Lead in Atlanta, GA.

Role Description

The Linux SysOps Technical Lead will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Linux infrastructure. This includes managing a team of system administrators, monitoring performance of systems, ensuring security compliance, and addressing day-to-day issues. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical knowledge and have excellent communication, leadership, and time management skills.

Lead Responsibilities:
• Technical review and assessment of the work of other team members.
• Advise IT Management on technical issues and preferred solution.
• Collaborating with other teams.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain issues, protocol, processes, and solutions.
• Time management skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as needed.
• Ensuring that industry best practices are adhered to.
• Advise on new technology that could improve and enhance It Infrastructure.
• Assess and offer guidance on implementing emerging technologies for enhancing IT infrastructure management.
Technical Responsibilities:
• Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers.
• Ensure that security best practices are adhered to for all systems.
• Review IT Systems, ensuring that security and OS vulnerabilities are applied.
• Review of IT Systems eliminating single points of failure, thus increasing system availability.
• Recognize routine task that can be automated.

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications:
• Deep expertise in Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat 8,9, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu).
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Ansible Tower, Ansible AAP, Puppet, Github).
• Extensive experience in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
• Working experience with virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., VMware, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Deep understanding of network protocols, services, and security.
• Must possess stellar troubleshooting skills, being able to identify root cause of issues.
• Experience in managing and maintaining SAN storage infrastructure.
• Experience in configuring and tuning system and application monitoring.
• Experience in deploying, configuring, troubleshooting software applications.
• Experience with RedHat Satellite and Oracle Linux Manager.
• Knowledge of databases such as SQL, MS SQL, MySQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, Redis, Cassandra, Oracle, PostgreSQL and/or Mongo
• Must be a motivated self-starter that stays current on industry trends and technologies.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of experience in Linux system administration.
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
