A long-standing MEP firm based in NJ is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with extensive experience in designing electrical systems for a variety of structures, including schools, religious institutions, commercial spaces, residential etc.
Your new role

• Perform detailed electrical calculations (e.g., load analysis, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination) to ensure system efficiency and compliance with codes.
• Prepare and review electrical design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Ensure electrical designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and applicable codes
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure electrical systems integrate seamlessly into the overall project design.
• Lead and participate in project meetings to review progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure client expectations are met.
• Conduct site visits for inspections and ensure compliance with design specifications during construction and commissioning phases.

What you'll need to succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical system design, with a focus on commercial, institutional, and/or industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm
• Extensive experience with electrical codes and standards
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex design challenges
