Drupal/Web Designer – Contract – Raleigh, NC – $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
The final salary or hourly wage, as applicable, paid to each candidate/applicant for this position is ultimately dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s/applicant’s qualifications, skills, and level of experience as well as the geographical location of the position.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship not available.
Our client is seeking a Drupal/Web Designer in Raleigh, NC.
Role Description
They want this person to take the States NC DPS website and move the “highway and traffic patrol division” and all its information and make it its own entity. The DPS website was already set-up using Drupal which is where the Drupal experience comes in.
They will be building, extending, and configuring already made Drupal sites using core and community contributed modules. They should be proficient in theming for consistent look and feel using HTML/CSS/JavaScript/jQuery; should have deployment experience with some LAMP abilities.
• Need someone who can communicate with the agency, non-technical people because those are our stakeholders.
• Need someone to explain to them in non-technical simple terms what the issues are, why the page layout is the way it is and what might be in the design, and why you are organizing things the way you are.
• Does not want everything on one page. We need someone to reduce noise and clutter.
If a page/web designer can say, “you know what, I can take all these pages and do a static site/page, HTML, java script, boot strap, and have this done”, I would bite at that and have a conversation with them if they don't have a lot of Drupal experience. Some Drupal experience would be great, though, and the reason they prefer that is because every time they need to make a change, they will need that person who did it or someone who knows how to use the software and programming this person did.
• Will be using Drupal 11.x as it is the newest version, most people should be on this version, but you should probably have at least Drupal 10. It would only take about half an hour to get to 11 and download it so should be no problem.
• Designer, focus on the front-end rendering, theme, style, graphics, layout.
• Candidate will need to be able to set up their own development site (Linux VM, Docker container, etc.). Deliverables will be the customizations, CSS, etc. We'll be standing up our site using stock Drupal installation on a Linux machine.
• Work with our Public Information Office to design pages for our public facing agency site.
Skills & Requirements
• You can look at people who want to work this as a second job. Outside of office hours, part-time.
• 90% Design rendering and layout/Drupal/Development
• 5% dealing with stakeholders
• 5% preparing updates – incremental deliverables so we can see the progress. Want to see progress 1-2 times a week. Will need to demonstrate what they produced every week.
