Hays is assisting a well-respected civil general contractor to find a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join their company. This contractor builds civil construction projects for the NYCDDC, MTA, NYSDOT, and ConEd ranging in value from 15 million dollars to 150 million dollars in value. You get to work on large and interesting design-build projects while still working in a family-owned and family-valued company. Key Responsibilities
  • Review project plans and proposals, and collaborate with management to determine project objectives.
  • Identify project responsibilities by determining the phases and elements of the project.
  • Calculate time frames and sequence the stages of the project.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, including materials, labor, and other associated costs.
  • Coordinate with different teams and professionals, such as contractors, architects, and engineers, to ensure all parties are aligned with project objectives.
  • Assess and mitigate project risks, including analyzing and managing technical risks.
  • Ensure the project is compliant with applicable laws, standards, and regulations.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure it is staying on time and within budget.
  • Make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders and upper management through reports and presentations.
  • Oversee the troubleshooting and problem-solving processes for project design and product issues.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including project notes and records.
  • Participate in the final testing, commissioning, and handover processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience in project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
  • PMP or other project management certification is a plus.
