IBM Mainframe Systems Programmer – CTP – Remote – $55.00 - 65.00/hr.

Our client is seeking a IBM Mainframe Systems Programmer for a remote opportunity.
Role Description
The Senior IBM Mainframe System Programmer installs, tests, and maintains the z/OS operating system and related IBM and third-party software products. The Programmer should have general knowledge of the operation and problem-resolution for most vendor-provided mainframe software. Additionally, they should have in-depth knowledge and experience in one or more specialized areas. The candidate will contribute to policy-level IT standards and guidelines regarding software installation, system performance, system security requirements, and disaster recovery testing to maintain production and quality assurance LPARs, improve system operations, and maximize system resource utilization.
Essential Functions:
• Planning:
o Installation and maintenance of CICS, DB2, and z/OS-related software.
o Capacity planning (transaction rates, memory, mainframe CPU).
o Disaster Recovery.
• Administration:
o Support web interfaces to CICS transactions.
o Provide backup support for 23 DB2 for z/OS subsystems.
o Provide procedural documentation as appropriate.
• Advising:
o Advise application programmers regarding interfaces and error handling.
o Advise DB2 DBAs regarding DSNZPARMs and system performance.
o z/OS storage administrators regarding needed file space requirements.
• Monitoring:
o z/OS CICS and DB2 system performance.
o Application tuning.
• Problem Resolution:
o On-call support for z/OS, CICS, and DB2 subsystem concerns.
o Analysis of system and application dumps.
o Use of CA Intertest to debug applications.
General Skills:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting z/OS, CICS, DB2, and related products.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, and a desire to learn.
• Proficiency with at least three of the specialized skills below.
Specialized Skills:
• z/OS version 2.4 and related products:
o ISPF, JCL, SCLM, SDSF, TSO, JES2.
o IBM File Manager and Fault Analyzer.
o SMP/E, HMC, EREP, ICSF, PR/SM.
• CICS Transaction Server 5.5 and related products:
o CICS Transaction Gateway (GTG).

• Handling web services requests coming into CICS (SOAP).
