3G jobs
3G is the third generation of mobile phone standards and technology. 3G is above 2G (GSM) but below 4G (latest mobile technology) in regards to technology and is also referred to as UMTS, which uses W-CDM and GSM infrastructures.
It enables network operators to offer a broader range of more advanced services through greater network capacity, improved data transmission, and video calls. Unlike Wi-Fi or WAN networks, 3G networks offer voice and data over “wide area cellular networks” which offer high speed internet access from your mobile and enables video telephony.

3G jobs are maily found within software, access, mobile internet, content, optimisation, network performance, product and connectivity, test & integration and usability within mobile. There are also specialist jobs in developing and testing, such as SMS, MMS, games applications, mobile access, mobile TV, connectivity and usability.
3G candidates tend to have communications qualifications, specialising in mobile. Content, applications and usabitliy are the key areas, and jobs in 3G are found in 3G connectivity support and coverage typically provided by field engineers (optimisation, performance and coverage). The support of the devices is provided in-house from operators.
3G jobs in content, software and development
Specialist roles in applications are often found within messaging, Wap, mobile TV, SMS and games applications tend to have experience and knowledge within software applications, content and development.
Career development and remuneration vary depending on specialist area. 3G jobs can be either field or office based and sit across many job catagories, from product development, software testing to coverage and optimisation.
