HEALTH & SAFETY WORKERS ARE IN DEMAND IN BRIGHTON
The health & safety industry in the South East is suffering from a shortage of experienced professionals, says local recruitment consultancy Hays Health & Safety. In order to provide a better local service and meet an increased demand for health & safety workers in the area, the UK’s leading specialist recruitment consultancy recently held an open day at its office on West Street in Brighton.
Despite the current doom and gloom, there are a number of projects currently underway in the area, including the incinerator under construction at Newhaven and the building work taking place at Hastings College, which should generate jobs for health & safety workers in the construction industry. There are also further opportunities across a wide range of other sectors. Health & safety consultants, CDM coordinators and quality assurance managers and are all particularly sought after.
James Lewendon, Consultant at Hays Health & Safety, comments: ‘’Workers who possess experience in health & safety are in high demand and can command good salaries and benefits. The open day was a great success and gave workers the opportunity to find out what work is available, what rates they can expect and what local employers are looking for. Changing requirements and better employer awareness make health & safety a varied and worthwhile career and those who missed the open day can rest assured that there are still plenty of opportunities available.’’
