SURGE IN DEMAND FOR ENERGY WORKERS IN BRISTOL
Hays Energy, a specialist recruitment consultancy, continues its expansion as it opens a new office in Bristol. The Bristol office on Baldwin Street joins existing operations in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Manchester and London. As a regional centre for most of the energy sector’s key employers, Bristol is the natural choice for the launch of Hays Energy’s next office.
‘’Opening an office in Bristol will allow us to attract professionals from the local area to work on some of the largest and most challenging energy projects within the UK’’, says Richard Westbrook, Manager at Hays Energy. Just one of these projects is the Severn Tidal Barrage, a £14bn project spanning the River Severn between Cardiff and Weston-super-Mare. It is estimated that the tidal barrage could provide 5% to 7% of the UK’s energy needs by 2020 and will generate thousands of jobs both in the planning, design and construction phase. The £2.5bn refurbishment work of the UK’s National Grid electricity and substation network, with a regional office near Bristol, will also create jobs for civil, structural, electrical and mechanical engineers and project managers.
Richard Westbrook, Manager at Hays Energy, comments: ‘’The energy industry is on the verge of huge growth. Bristol is proving to be a rapidly expanding marketplace for energy related work because of the many energy and engineering companies which are located in the region. Having an office close to the action will ensure that we are able to meet the increased demand for energy workers and find good people jobs on these local projects.’’
