"Thank-you for visiting this web-site to find out more about this role.
Our Force's commitment is to deliver a quality policing service to everyone in Derbyshire. To do that effectively we need to make the very best use of the limited resources that we have. This is made even more challenging because the demands on the service we deliver are growing every day.
I hope when you read the information on this web-site you will want to play a key part in helping me and my colleagues rise to this challenge.
I see an effective IS/IT service at the heart of helping us to enable front line police officers to deliver an even better and more public facing service to the people of Derbyshire.
We are already investing heavily in new technology to bring together our 3 control rooms that deal with all our calls for service. We are rolling out a substantial number of mobile data terminals to police officers to give them immediate access on the street to the vital information that they need to do their job.
At a national level IT is also set to play a key role in the Government’s plans to further reduce crime with the introduction of the Police National Database. We are also working closely with other force in the East Midlands to look at the best way we can share our IT resources. It certainly does not end there and we want you to help us use new technology to improve the way we do business.
The force already relies massively on IT. As a 24/7 business we cannot operate effectively without our IT system and communications. IT really is critical to our business and we need you to make sure that the service we provide is as resilient as it can be.
A lot has been done and much has been invested in IT over recent years, which will provide a sound basis for your future plans. However there is still a lot to do and a genuine opportunity to use your skills and experience to help shape the way we use IT in the future to deliver a quality policing service to everyone in our county."
